I recently decided to remove distractions from my life in order to focus on what is more important. This decision didn’t come easily. After all, what is life without friend requests, game requests, and even prying into everyone’s life? So far, I have noticed that my anxiety level has decreased and I’m spending more time researching events around the world.
You see, what I’m really trying to accomplish is “getting back to the basics.” It used to be so easy to make actual friends and have real conversations. But it seems like all of the digital means are taking away the ability to have true “face time” with people. The more connected you are to your digital friends, the less connected you become to the real world.
The title of my blog is wakeupsheeple13. The wake up part represents how most people are totally disconnected from what’s going on around them. If you don’t believe that statement, do a small experiment: ask someone about why the United States is planning to attack Syria. Then ask that same person who recently got engaged. When I did this, I discovered that most people have no clue about the first, but totally knew about Katie Curic’s recent engagement. Sadly, they found that to be more important than the fact that another strike in the Middle East could engage the world into World War 3. Sheeple represents how society is turning into a herd of sheep that will blindly follow their leaders into whatever means they dictate. Once again, I found this appalling.
I’m pretty sure that there are quite a few people that think I am crazy. In fact, I know that to be true. When people talk to me about something on Facebook and I tell them that I no longer have one, they express how crazy I am. I attempt to explain my reasons and also my reasons for giving up television and they think that I must have “flew the coop.” I find that to be quite offensive, but that’s what happens when you have a “radical” vision and pursue it.
I am now dedicating my time and resources to learning the truth about what is happening around me. I’m spending more time connecting with people in real ways. Sure, I still write in my blog. However, I don’t see this as a distraction, but a mere outpouring of my thoughts and learnings to share with those that might be interested in reading them.
Thank you to those of you that are following me. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to read my thoughts. Please feel free to comment and/or share if you feel the need to do so. Maybe I will find others that have similar stories and we can connect. Finally, my biggest hope is to educate and help others to see what is going on around them so they don’t become sheep.
